*ring, ring*
"Hello"
"Hi Grandma it's me, Julie. How are you doing?"
"OK, how are you?"
"I'm good. I just noticed that Crab is on sale and the sale ends today so I wanted to order them for Christmas Eve but I didn't know how many to get."
"Well I think no less than 10 but no more than 12.What do you think?"
"I think that sounds about right. I will order 12 just to be safe."
"Okay, don't forget to have them clean them for you. Some places charge for this but I don't think Chris's store does. But you have to ask them to do it for you."
"I will."
"Don't have them package to many in the same package or they get tough. So ask for 3 per package. Don't forget to have them clean them."
"Okay I will ask them to clean them and package them only 3 per package. Then when I get home I will stick them in the freezer."
"Sounds good. Then you need to come over and prepare them."
"When do we do that? The day before Christmas Eve?"
"Yes and take them out of the freezer the day before that but no sooner otherwise they will get to tough."
"Will do."
"I think Cathy is going to help us prepare them again this year."
"I'll talk to her when it gets closer."
"You will need to bring garlic, Parsley-I use dried not the fresh, salt, pepper and olive oil. Don't forget your scissors and nut crackers-otherwise people won't be able to get the meat out if we don't precrack the shells for them."
"I just wrote it all down on my calender so I won't forget."
"Okay, sounds good."
"So if you are feeling up to it you want me to come over later in the week and we could play cards?"
"That will be fine if I can."
"Okay Gram I'll just plan on it then we can play it by ear."
"Sounds good."
"Love Ya Gram"
"Love you too"

ReplyDeleteI love love love love this!
ReplyDeleteI WANT TO COME!!!!! I was just saying that I refuse to do turkey or ham this year, I may steal this idea, what else do you serve with it??
ReplyDeleteWell Beth it all depends. It used to be that crab was a part of the main meal but as the family grew and the cost rose it became an appitizer. In the past on Christmas Eve we have served Lasagna or Prime Rib. I believe this year we are going with the Prime Rib but I haven't gotten the menu from Grandma yet because of her illness.
