Well here it is 4 days before Thanksgiving and I was asked to prepare the stuffing for our Thanksgiving celebration that we are having today with our best friends. As I was getting all the ingredients out I thought to myself "this would be a fabulous first recipe for me to put on the family food blog". I was going to have my first post be about Grandma's Meatballs but this just fits the season better. So without further ado here is Grandma Rose's Stuffing....
Ingredients:
1 Box Mrs. Cubbison's Classic Dressing Seasoned
1 1/2 cups Chicken Broth
2 cubes of Butter
1 1/2 cups chopped Celery
1 cup Onion
3/4 pd Italian Sausage
1/2 cups Pine Nuts
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
2. Melt 1 cube of butter in saute pan and saute onion and celery. Then add 2nd cube of butter to mixture and melt.
3. At the same time cook the sausage in a separate pan. Drain grease from pan. (To really get the most grease out line a plate with paper towels and place sausage mixture on it.)
4. Place both bags of stuffing in large bowl. Add butter mixture, sausage and pine nuts to bowl and stir well.
5. Pour mixture into a greased 3 quart casserole dish.
6. Bake covered for 30 minuets. Remove cover and bake 10 more minuets until top is browned.
7. Enjoy!!
Now Grandma likes to stuff her bird while cooking it and then bakes the rest as I have described above. I have always cooked my stuffing on the side. This Thursday however I was informed that I would be stuffing my bird so I will let you know how it turned out later.
I have many things in my life to be thankful for but since this is the family food blog I will end this posting by letting you all know that I am VERY Thankful that YOU are my family!!!
Lots of Love, Julie
